outofcountry1
Once a judgement has been obtain against you, is it possible to settle for less than the full amount if the plaintif agrees to the settlement? If so, how likely that they would agree if it appears that you have no wages to garnish and are smart enough not to put assets in your own name? impudence
Yes it is possible to settle for less. However, remember that a judgement lasts for a very long time and can often be renewed. So a patient bill collector might wait years for you to get a job or to put an asset in your name before stepping in. That said it never hurts to ask, especially since most CA's dont consider patience a virtue.
