Judgement-can they do this.

Recommended Posts

I live in NY and recently I looked at my bank statement to find out some -4k in it. I called, apparently there was a judgement against me and levi on account. I never received any notices of judgment, the last time i heard from the law office that sued was when I sent them a letter a year ago asking for a settlement. Well, I paid them, sent cashiers check by certified mail which they received, but they still haven't released my account and don't return my phone calls. Is anything they did legal? :?:

I'd definitely file a motion to vacate.

on basis that they never notified or on basis that they don't release the account. And if i paid them, whats the point, not like they will give me the money back...

honestly, during the finals, this is not the headache i need

Cite as many reasons as you can. Yes, they can be ordered to give the money back. And then you can turn then over to collections. :)

Im actually in the same situation, except i never contacted them or made any payments until i was notified of all this when i had a levy placed as well.

im trying (unsuccessfully) to find out if my SOL has passed regarding filing a motion, the courts tell me they dont know- sorry.

The judgment was filed on 4-99 and im in California.

Any links would be helpful and appreciated.
