I have am recieving calls from people claiming to be from the office of Attorney Anthony Cambisi [not sure of spelling as I have not recieved anything in the mail from them.,spelled it like it sounds] They say the debt is from an account I had with Chase Manhatten and are threatening to sue. I asked for information to be mailed to my current home address as they stated an address not used in years, before I discussed it with them as I honestly am not sure if I owe this debt or not>They refused and also refused my verbal request for validation.I can not send a written one as I do not even know the correct spelling let a alone an address. They told me they do not have to send me anything and said I was just stalling.I gave them the proper address but they refuse to send anything to me in the mail. They found my phone# which I got years after I opened any credit accounts so I know they know where I am. I don't even have any proof they are who they say they are.HELP! What do I do? Has anyone had dealings with them,if so do you have an address?

Have you pulled your credit reports to see if they are reporting? That's Step #1. Their contact info would be on the credit reports if they are. They certainly do have to send you a letter containing the mini miranda language within five days of their initial phone call. You can try calling Chase to find out who is handling this account for them or if they've sold the account to a junk debt buyer. They sound very amateurish, so most likely they are a junk debt buyer and Chase is out of the picture. Still, Chase may be willing to give you a mailing address. Please don't be intimidated by these people. That's what they're counting on. It's best not to talk to CA/JDB's on the phone because it usually doesn't end in a good way. However, if you want to catch them in FDCPA violations record any conversations you have with them. The "we don't have to send you anything" would have been great to have on tape. What they want to do when talking with you is get you flustered and get you to agree to pay over the phone without them ever having to prove that they own the debt or that the amount is correct or that the debt is even yours. A good number of them try to get your bank info from you. Don't fall for it.

Welcome to the CIC, you've come to the right place!
