xurlii
I noticed on my husband's CR that NCO has done 3 hard pull inquiries. Can CAs pull your CR anytime they want to once your account is sold or assigned to them? My husband did not consent to these inquiries. It seems to me like an invasion of privacy. jasen
Are you sure they're hard pulls? Many CA's check credit reports, but I've never seen one that counted as a hard pull. And they can check it whenever they want if I remember correctly, but they only show up as soft, so pretty much only you see them.Unless he applied for credit with them or otherwise gave permission, they can't put a hard pull on his credit report. Verify they're hard, and dispute them with the CRA.
Overwhelmed
I have a hard inquiry on my report from a collection agency called "Bronson and Migl Collections services" and I have no idea who they are. I never got anything from them, and this was put on there over a year ago.
codename_fortyseven
I'd ask what their PP was for pulling my report
chr101
I have multiple hard inquiries on my TU report from several CA' s for the same collection account (5 from NCO alone), and 5 from an OC. Of course, none were authorized by me. What is the best approach in contacting each to make them prove a permissible purpose or delete each. Any helpful advice is appreciated. abennett
I have the same problem on my report, so I have typed a nice/nasty letter to these companies about them pulling my report without authorization. I've gotten 4 inquiries moved from a mortgage company who pulled my report without my permission, so i am gonna try the same letter to these companies that I do not recognize, and also the credit agencies. I can see them pulling a report as a soft inquiry to verify your address or something but other than that, its uncalled for.
Northern Lights
Just the begining folks, these credit agencies are making hard pulls because either you had recent credit activity on your report or they want to see if you can pay.The new bankruptcy law went into effect today so the dogs are out there coming for blood, knowing the threat of ill file bankruptcy is no longer.I also had a hard pull done by NCO and then a few days latter a letter came in the mail for an account that is eight years old. I had to send out another debt validation letter to these dogs.
Lil Smurfette
If the account is 8 years old it has to be past Statue of Limitations. They wouldn't be able to collect on that account.
Anonymous
We know that. But how many "average" consumers know this? not many.CA's/JDB's bank on consumer ignorance. That's why they can intimidate easily with threats of jail.
abennett
Question is, Is it legal for them to pull your report without permission even if they are a collection agency.
edubb007
I believe it is legal from some of the topics I read here years ago! NCO is known for underhanded moves like this where they pullhard inq's religiously to see if you've paid others off. Then they hit you with more papers and bills thinking you've come into money! I always suggest trying to negotiate with the OC before dealing with the jerks there...
