This is probably a stupid question...

Can a Charge off show as PAST DUE? Before I disputed all of them showed as sold/paid charge-off or transferred/sold to another lender.

Thanks in advance!

Not a stupid question, but also not an easy answer.

My thought is that by disputing these accounts (or maybe DV'ing the CAs that had them) you given the OC an opportunity to change the reporting to "in dispute" which takes it our of the "sold to another lender" category. Maybe, because they weren't able to provide DV to the CA that bought them, the CA returned them to the OC...

So...it is permissable for a CO'd account to contnue to collect interest and penalties as long as the OC hasn't sold it. I'm thinking that while they're looking into your dispute, they're going to report the accounts as "past due".

thanks... I think I will wait to see what it reports after the investigation is over with.

before the dispute on capital one it showed :

Status: closed/account charged off, $1635 written off $2713 past due with a High balance of $1635

providian showed

Status: closed/account charged off

$4144 written off

high balance $3400

then at bottom purchased by another lender

Chm

Status: account charged off/past due 180 $1094 written off

$1094 past due as of 03/04

On Chm it says Date opened : 03/98 and Reported since :02/98 how can they report an account that wasnt opened until 03/98 ?

*just trying to see anything that would help get a possible deletion! lol *
