THEY PROVIDED ME WITH PHONE NUMBER -- IVE BEEN CALLING FOR OVER A MONTH -- NOBODY EVERY ANSWERS... HELP!

you have the right to dispute ANY information on your CR, whether TU likes it or not, they're required to investigate if you dispute it. I would send them a letter CMRRR. if they send you something back in writing saying we don't investigate that, then it's willful non-compliance with the FCRA.

I tried to get several collection Inquiries off my TU report thursday and the Rep said those are PP because they have the right to inquire if they are taking a collection , I told them that they are not on my report and I do not have any collection with that company that did the inquiry and he argued with me and said they do have permissible purpose... He refused to delete. I told him I didnt sign anything or apply with them he said it didnt matter, they still had permissible purpose because they were a collection agency!

How does he figure that??

Anyone know?

I have only once been able to get an inquiry removed. That was accomplished through the OC. I screamed and yelled and insisted until they finally gave in and did it. They whined about difficult and unusual it was what they were doing.

That incident proved to me that, no matter how much OC's insist they have no power over what is reported to CRAs, they are lying. Someone there has the power. It's mostly impossible to get to that person, though.

P.S. I like your sig. I'm obsessed now, too. But then credit has always interested me. I use to send for my reports back in the '70s. It's such a challenge!

I received a letter from TU yesterday.. IT reads:

Thank you for contacting TransUnion. Our goal is to maintin complete and accurate information on consumer credit reports. We have provided the information below in response to your request.

Re: Policy for information Retention

The Fair Credit Reporting Act allows:

-Civil Judgements, wether paid or unpaid, to be reported for seven years from the date the judgement was entered, depending on your state of residence.

-Tax liens to be reported from seven years from the date paid or released.

-Unpaid Tax liens to be reported for an indefinite period of time, depending upon your state of residence.

-Adverse credit history, such as collections and profit-and-loss write-off accounts, to be reported for seven years from the date of delinquency.

-non-adverse credit information to be reported for a period of 10 years from the date the account was paid or closed.

-Bankruptcies to be reported for 10 years from the date of filing. However, it is TransUnion's policy to report discharge or dismissed Chapter 13 bankruptcies for seven years from the date the bankruptcy was filed. Voluntarily dismissed bankruptcies, regardless of the chapter filed, are reported for seven years from the date of bankruptcy was filed.

-Accounts included in the Bankruptcy filing to be reported from the date the bankruptcy was filed.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please contact TransUnion at the address shown below, or visit us on the web at www.TransUnion.com for general information.

**Now mind you I was trying to get inquiries taken off that were from Collection Agencies that were pulling my report with out Permissible purpose because they were not collecting for anything I had accounts for.

That letter they sent said nothing about Inquiries, so why did they send it?? Nowhere in that letter suggested anything about Inquiries! (which Transunion Rep said that all CA have PP; and when I tried to argue that they were not collecting anything he still repeated they have PP)

Comments/suggestions anyone???

They probably don't pay much attention to inquiries because it is such an automatic process, and there isn't anything you can do about them anyway except wait for them to fall off.

Yes there are creditors who pull our report without our permission, and check them constantly, but the ones that do not occur as a result of trying for a loan or cc are usually invisible to other companies.

Try not to stress too much about inquiries. You can't do anything about them. Yes some of them lower your credit score, but only the ones that we generated by applying for credit.

Thanks for all the responses to my post. I am going to send TU a letter requesting them to be removed. There are 4 on there that I have never signed an app. or applied for credit with. I have never heard of them until I saw my TU report. But anyway.....

Ya'll have a good night!

The easiest way to get that inquiry off is to call the collection agency and find out why they pulled your file. Quite often they do have a reason for pulling your credit you don't realize. There is no reaspn for them to pull your file with out a reason as this costs them money (and collection agencies are very tiight about spending money!).

If they have no record of you in their system, they will gladly produce a letter stating they mistakenly pulled your file. This helps them avoid liabilty in a lawsuit. Take that letter and write a letter yourself to TU that you do not do business with the collection agency and the inquiry will be moved in a day once the documents are reviewed. VERY EASY, it just takes two things, letter from company that made the inquiry and a letter from you staing you did not authorize the inquiry.

I have not noticed any collection agencies pulling my file, but I have seen creditors whom I owe pulling my file on a regular basis. Obviously they must have a right to do that? Perhaps to see if we are paying other obligations and not theirs?

I'm sorry if I sounded negative about being able to get ANY inquiries deleted. It's just that I've had NO luck doing this except for one time, when I had to really give the OC hell.

I get inquiries removed from Eq everytime I dispute them. I occasionally have success with TU. Only once though have I had any luck with EX.

Wow, good information. Thank you!! Do you dispute them by writing? (I guess you'd have to; they don't give you the chance to dispute them online - or do they somehow and I haven't figured it out?) If you dispute them in writing, what do you say? That you didn't apply for credit with them? Cuz I have a whole lot that I could truthfully say that about!!
