wahoo238
I have a closed Discover card I am paying on and I originaly had a credit line of 6500 as I pay down the card I have noticed the CL is periodicaly lowered now CL 3200 still owe 2500 so use ratio is hurting score. Q- can they do this?
Methuss
I would say no. That would be false reporting. I'm pretty sure your agreement was to close the account "at the current terms." By lowering the CL they are keeping your utilization high and artificially lowering your FICO score.
wahoo238
Recommendations? dispute with Discover or CRA?, BTW Discover closed this account for me about six yrs ago.
Methuss
Dispute first with the CRAs that the CL was altered. If it is "verified" by Discover you will have some leverage over them for the FCRA violations.
