spanky62798
I have 5 entries from one particular collection agency that I paid a couple of years ago. I was just reading your info on when paying having them report the item as "paid". Since mine are medical bills, these are the only entries for the debts and they are listed as "payment after charge off". My question is, do I stand a chance of getting them to change how they reported them and getting them to reflect simply as 'paid' even though it's been a couple years since I paid them?thanks in advance for your help
willingtocope
If its a CA that's reporting on your credit reports, you might try the 1-2 punch debt validation routine (do a search). Its likely the CA doesn't have your records after a couple of years and they may not validate.
spanky62798
I think you might have mis-understood me. All of these debts have been paid in full as of a couple of years ago. I was wanting to see if there was any way for them into a very positive rating for me versus the 'payment after chargoff' which is how they are currently listed. Are you saying even though they have been paid to have them validated? Obviously if they couldn't validate them, the entry would be removed. Would that be better than having them reflect as 'PAID'?thanks
willingtocope
Again, it depends on whether its a CA reporting. If its the OC, you might stand a chance of sending them a "good will" letter...CA's don't care, once they've got their money. So if its a CA you're dealing with, they probably won't change their entry. You can, however, send them a DV letter saying "...I just found you on my credit reports...I don't remember having an account with you...send me proof, or get off my reports..." . Might work...might not.
DBMCC
The only way a collection will ever be positve (whether paid or unpaid) is if it is not on your credit report at all. I would go with the 1-2 punch as WTC stated! Good Luck
