Writing the CEO Kicks Butt

In previous threads I have written about an electric company that wouldn't budge on removing my account.

Yesterday, 7-4-2005, I sent an email to the CEO because the person I was dealing with had reaged the account, and asked for his assistance in stopping this rogue recievables maniac. Here is the letter I wrote:

July 3, 2005

From: Me

Mr CEO Name

Company Corp.

Columbia, SC 29218

Mr. CEO Name,

My name is Me. Your company is reporting an account on my credit file and I have been fighting with them about it for several years now. Until recently, my letters went ignored. I finally got a response to an email about five weeks ago.

The account was with SCE&G, but I am not sure what the service was. All I have been able to get from the representative, (Rogue Agent), is the address the service was at. That address was

123 Tiner St

xxxxx,SC

Acct# 3-xxxx-0128-xxxx

The account is supposedly from 1999, and I have lived in TN since 1994.

Aside from the fact that I have not been able to get any kind of real information about the account other than the fact that it exists in your computer systems, I recently discovered that your representative has purposely attempted to illegally re-age the account so she can continue punishing my credit file for an additional seven years. All of this without offering the slightest evidence that I am, in fact, the person who opened the account to begin with.

I have already reported violations to the FTC and SC Consumer Affairs. Now, with the attempt at re-aging the account I am seriously considering taking your company to court and seeking damages for malicious defamation of character and credit reporting violations. All of this over a bill of $62 dollars that is over 6 years old.

Before I proceed any further I thought I would contact the person with whom the buck stops and respectfully ask that you direct your SCE&G Accounting department to discontinue its errant reporting of this account on my credit file, delete my name and information from your computer system, send me a letter of appology for the difficult time I have had in getting this error resolved with assurance that it will not be repeated in the future.

I thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from you.

ME

Low and behold, today I received an email from the manager of the department, cut and pasted below for your enjoyment:

Dear Mr. Me,

In an attempt to resolve your dispute, a request for additional information was mailed to your home address on June 29, 2005. Your response to our request will not be necessary. Based on the information provided by you in your recent correspondence, we are notifying the credit reporting agencies to remove the debt from your credit file.

If you need additional information, please call me at xxx-xxx-xxxx.

Sincerely,

I guess that writing the CEO can be a powerful weapon in some circumstances. They don't get to be CEOs by playing around.

Mr J. T. Malugen

Mr. J. T. Malugen,

My name is (blank). Your company is reporting an account on my

credit file and I have been fighting with them about it for several

months now. Until recently, my letters went ignored. I finally got a

response to a dispute through my credit report.

The account was with Credit Protection, but I am sure I never had a

Hollywood Video card. All I have been able to get from the

representative, is the address the card was opened at. That address was on

123 Anywhere Rd,

SomeWhere, MO

55555-0000 Acct#********

The account is supposedly from 2002, and I was living in Phoenix,

Arizona from 2000-2005 attending college.

Aside from the fact that I have not been able to get any kind of real

information about the account other than the fact that it exists in your

computer systems, I recently discovered that your representative has

attempted to illegally not follow through with her agreement of

"removing negative trade line completely upon receipt of payment". My

payment in full was made 3/2005 and now my trade line will be extended

for another 7 years before this "collection" account is removed from my

credit. All of this without offering the slightest evidence that I am,

in fact, the person who opened the account to begin with.

I have already reported violations to the FTC and TX Consumer Affairs.

Now, with the attempt of not "keeping the deal" with the account I am

seriously considering taking your company to court and seeking damages

for malicious defamation of character and credit reporting violations.

All of this over a bill of $75 dollars that is over 3 years old.

Before I proceed any further I thought I would contact the person with

whom the buck stops and respectfully ask that you direct your Credit

Protection Accounting department to discontinue its errant reporting of

this account on my credit file, delete my name and information from your

computer system, send me a letter of apology for the difficult time I

have had in getting this error resolved with assurance that it will not

be repeated in the future.

I thank you for your time and look forward to hearing from you.

Regarding DirecTV-

Let me just tell you guys, they are the nicest OC you could ever wish for. They just want their money.

So.....

I had a $200+ account pop up after 5 years-(SOL is 6 here), so I wanted to DV and PFD it if necessary.

DV'd RMA and got no response. Threatened RMA- ITS- because they never dunned me after posting on my report(EQ).

Decided to go to the source and emailed DirecTV exec's. I know many people don't like the email approach, but it works well for me. I've had three negs removed this way.

Okay, within 1 1/2 hours of my email I received a call from their exec assistant. Within 2 hours the situation was resolved and I had an email from her stating PFD. They had assigned it to RMA and not sold it, so they recalled it upon payment.

Here are the emails of the DirecTV execs:

Bruce.Churchill@directv.com

Larry.Hunter@directv.com

Michael.Palkovic@directv.com

Romulo.Pontual@directv.com

Patrick.Doyle@directv.com

Email ALL of them for quickest response.

Obviously your emails will need to be compelling. I will not post mine here as watchful eyes may be prowling. However, my letter did state that I had tried to get DV from RMA and was unsuccessful, and also that the DirecTV CSR had offended me, which they had.

After all was said and done, this was removed from EQ less than 48 hours after DirecTV called me. I overnighted payment to them to facilitate this.

Hope this helps. I'd really like others to post on this and detail their outcomes.

Ahh, one more thing. DirecTV's exec assistant told me that if I'd like to become a customer again, please call her and she would handle it personally.

This coming NFL season, I'll do just that.
