Need a Goodwill letter

I am REALLY needing one now. I did post a new request over on Resources.

The one I need would be for an open account, with all on-time payments, and just one, tiny late mark from almost 2 years ago is in my derogatory section.

I need something persuasive.

Goodwill letters are nice, but there's really no "standard" form letter. A goodwill is very personal. There are, however, certain points to cover...

1) You have shown since the late that you are responsible with your credit with relation to the creditor you are writing to.

2) The glitch was just that. Something came up that prevented you from making the payment on time (you were ill, forgot to pay before going out of town... etc.) it was a stupid mistake, and you accept that.

3) Your relationship with the specific creditor is just that - specific. There are policies being promoted (shoved down their throats) by the CRA's stating they cannot modify the information being reported. That is bunk. The CRA's are supposed to be repositories, meaning they simply collect, maintain, and distribute information (they even claim this repeatedly - look what happens when you dispute their verification procedures). What they are actually doing is playing the corporate whore - credit issuers do depend heavily on the CRA's for credit-worthiness - as such, the CRA's then work for the creditors instead of remaining more neutral.

I'll see what I can dig up and will post it here - probably won't be until tomorrow afternoon.

Thanks! You've done a lot just in that post! I think I could write up a sample letter all by myself just using what you've said. Isn't it basically begging for compassion and mercy, and reminding them about the great relationship you have with them now?

Who is promoting policies for the CRAs now not to modify any information? I believe that! It is ridiculous.

I just posted a thread yesterday about how Experian completely refused to investigate or modify 19 inquiries wherein I did not apply for any credit. If Experian is now doing that, won't the others follow?
