dtmd
Early last week - I DVd a collection agency that has been reporting to my credit profiles. Today - I get a letter from them that simply states "this letter shall serve as confirmation that the above-mentioned account has been closed adn returned to the client listed above as of July 21, 2005. We are no longer handling your account. Should you need additional informaiton, please contadct teh original creditor XXXXXXX at teh address listed below. So what does that mean? Do they have to remove their crap now?
codename_fortyseven
The better remove any TL's on your credit report. Dispute them after maybe 5 days. It means they didn't have squat to send you, you weren't a fool and didn't pay the first person that calls you, and they are going to go after easier prey. Expect the OC to farm it out to another CA. dtmd
So they must remove it? I'm getting the bla bla bla - already investigated crap from TU and EXP on it from last month. Should I send a copy of the letter? I'm gonna contact the OC now and work out a settlement I think. It's unfortunate that I'm stuck with this bill... but at this point... I don't want anymore CAs hitting my CR - I'm 2 years post BK and don't need this!
codename_fortyseven
Contact the CA, tell them if they are recalling the account, they better make sure to remove any inq's and TL's from the CRA's within 5-10 days.
dtmd
Well... I called them. The man on the phone was shockingly nice and helpful. He told me a "flag" had been sent electronically to the CRAs on the 22nd. he said they have no control after that and it takes 60-90 days to update. I asked for a copy of the "flag" and he said that it is electronic and they don't have a copy to send me.Do I dispute with CRA to get it updated sooner?
