What are the best ways to improve my score in a short period

Recommended Posts

If I could just bump up my credit score about 25 points in a short period of time, it would create some options for me. I don't have the money to pay down my big balances by much (which are mostly charged off, anyway). My car is within a few hundred dollars of being paid off. Will that help my score? I am making relatively large payments to a CC via a stipulated judgement - do they report as my debt to them gets smaller, or since it was charged off and became a conditional settlement/stipulated judgement is it a moot point that I'm paying them off?

What's worked for you? Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, a "paid collection/paid chargeoff" on your credit reports is as bad as a "collection/chargeoff" so paying these accounts now would most likely not raise your FICO scores at all. If you have any unsecured credit cards that are in good standing then paying down those balances will help. Other than that, the only thing I can think of is to be added as an authorized user to the credit card account of a friend or family member. Very important that that account have a low utilization and never have been late.
