xfactor
First of all, I have been lurking here for awhile, and I have to say that this place is a wealth of information and help and I want to thank everyone in advance for the information and effort you put in to responding to peoples questions and requests for help. Now, on with the show...Real quick rundown on my situation. We got dragged in to a lawsuit about a year ago that bled us dry and took all of our money. In the process, it left us with nothing to pay our bills and thus our credit cards didn't get paid. We did the basics (mortgage, car, utilities), but the cards just didn't get the attention they should have.Well, we have settled our lawsuit and now we need to proceed with cleaning up our credit. Today I got a call from the CA that is handling one of our credit cards. I told them we wouldn't be dealing with them, that we only deal with the OC. She said they would just refer the account back to the CA anyway, so I might as well make an arrangement with her at that time. I said no thanks and hung up. I just drafted a cease and desist letter and am sending it tomorrow CMRRR. I guess my question is, what do I expect at this point? I am going to have to go through this a few more times since we have a few of these cards we're going to have to deal with. I plan on (hopefully) doing some settling on this debt at an amount we can afford. Otherwise these guys may just have to accept they're not going to get anything.Any ideas on settling and the best ways to make it happen?Thats it for me. Thanks for listening and any help anyone can give.
codename_fortyseven
Woah! Slow down killer. C/D out of statute debts. A C/D for an in statute debt gives them the only option of suing. Speaking of which, is the debt in statute or out of statute?Stay off the phone as well. Start with a debt validation letter and go from there. They have a DV flowchart
