calpine34
Help,I did the Debt Validation letter to get a paid Collection acct dropped. CA validated it plus came back with two older outstanding accounts that I had forgotten about. Both are for medical bills, one for the ex-wife and one is mine. Dates were 1/98 & 5/00. I checked the statute of limitations and its 3 years on written contracts in Nebraska where I live.Question: Do I need to reply to their demand for payment since its all rolled into thier repsonse to my debt validation letter and if so what should I write back? Thanks guys. You r infor has already helped me raise my scores quite a bit. I just don't want to screw up my hard earned gains.
Methuss
What you do is reply with a cease and desist telling them that the debt is time-barred. Follow that up with a dispute letter to the CRAs if they are reporting it. They are not allowed to continue collections on time barred debt and the FTC has stated bluntly that verifying to the CRAs is continued collection activity.
