so i got a delete derogatory letter from citi and mailed it in. i got a response from experian saying the letter wasn't signed, so i called back and got the letter signed. I then sent that letter to them. I get a response back in a few days, there is not a phone number on the letter, i then get citi to put their phone number in. I sent this in a few days ago. Today, the lates were removed but now it says collection account. I called up and they told me the letter didnt mention anything about the collection only the lates. i tried to explain that if i was never late paying them i couldn't possibly be in collection! What can i do?

It's quite obvious that the pin-heads at Experian are jerking you around. The fact that they have done so more than once is reason enough that the next letter you send should be specific in that if they continue to fail to meet their legal obligation to report correct information you will be forced to take the matter up in a court of law.

It seems the bureaus are giving everyone a hard time lately to delete info. TU did not want delete even though they received a request from JDB to delete. I was livid. I called them up on the phone and the CSR said I had to send the letter from JDB requesting delete. I told him you already have the letter because you deleted the inquiries but not the account. And told him I would see them in court. Well, I also had a dispute going on other accounts, once my dispute was resolved, the other account was deleted.

Sometimes, the threat of a lawsuit or actual suit is all they will listen to.

Make sure you file your complaints with the FTC. FACTA requires the FTC to question the CRA on every single complaint they get and to tell Congress in annual reportsw wether the CRAs are complying with the law. The CRAs are required to respond to each FTC inquiry with an explination as to why they are not complying.
