Need advice on dealing with Charge off's.

Yes it does - it's called re-aging. You have NOT paid ANYTHING on this since 2001? Remember even a $1 payment will reset the SoL clock. When was your last payment? I assume you've since fed those old bills to the shredder or the garbage can?

Ooo - Ick ... you're not past SoL. Tennessee is 6 years.

Do some searches on "charge off". All CO means is that the OC has taken a charge against income on their income tax. They may still own it and have just decided to give it to another CA to hassle you. The 2003 date could be when they decided to do the CO or when they sold it. Doesn't matter...the DOLA is from when you last paid them.

Check your credit reports...if it says "sold to another lender", its with a JDB. Either way, DV the "lawyer"...they're just another collection agency and they need to prove they've got the right person.

And...while paying them $1 may reset the SOL...it doesn't change the DOLA. The FCRA requires fhat the debt be "brought current" before that changes.
