Do Student Loans fall under FCRA & FDCPA

I know that Student Loans are governed by the Higher Ed Act, but do they also fall under the FCRA and FDCPA as far as accurate reporting is concerned.

I have a couple of Sallie Mae loans that are not reporting accurately and need to know how they are handled before I think about any lawsuits.

The loans are current.

Thanks,

The truth is that private collection agencies ARE subject to the FDCPA and FCRA but the govt or original lender is not (FCRA may apply to the original lender in some cases). You can sue all private collection agencies as well as the credit reporting agencies if they fail to follow the law.

But you will never be able to sue the govt or an original lender. Even if can sue do not expect these loans to go away if they are federal....

private loans are different.
