Just applied for Chase Cash Plus Rewards

Recommended Posts

I had a moment of weakness... I took a chance and applied for the Chase Cash Plus Rewards Card. My reasons are b/c it seems like the easiest card to acquire through Chase (lowest limit if approved is $200) and a lot of the other cards said 'platinum'. Chase also approved me for my auto loan 13 mos ago when I had 6-yes 6! unpaid and fairly new COs. I have perfect payment history with them. I hope I get it! I will receive an answer by mail in 30 days since they don't offer instant decision on the website.

Hey, on the app it had 3 questions you must check in order to apply: 1 no BK, 2 no serious delinquiencies in credit history, and 3. us citizen 18 years old. I checked all 3 even though I lied about #2. Is that really bad? Could I get in trouble for this? Do you think they will automatically deny me b/c I lied about my derogatory credit history?

Chase always pulled a Eq for me and always declines me for some reason. MY eq is relitivly clean. only 1 CO and several positive TL. But looking at whogavemycredit.com seems to lean towards TU. Id be anxious to know who they pull from you and if you get approved

I called them to check the status of my application and it is under review. They pulled my equifax CR yesterday. My score is like 548. I am going to call back on Wednesday. If I do not get approved then I am going to ask them to reconsider due to the fact that I have an auto loan with them and have always paid on time. I'm keeping my fingers crossed! :<img src=:'>

I didn't get the card...oh well, I didn't hold my breath. I called the customer service dept of the application center and tried to speak to someone about reconsideration. The CSR's kept transferring me around and giving me the same numbers to call over and over again. I finally spoke to a woman who advised me that the approvals dept cannot be contacted at their location (whatever that means..?). She could not give a number or be of any help at all. What a bunch of bull. Perhaps Chase only approved my auto loan b/c it was a secured loan (with the car as collateral). This pisses me off. I can accept being denied, but am unnerved that there is nobody I can speak to for reconsideration. Any suggestions?

Aww, I'm sorry, sweetheart.

Try the "new applications" phone number and ask to be put through to the department that reconsiders denials. I did that with Union Plus (Household) when they turned me down because of my BK. A nice lady looked at my report while we were on the phone, noted that my BK was a long time ago and that I'd been a good girl since then. She said she would ask her supervisor to review my application again. The supervisor called me within the hour and couldn't have been nicer.

Yeah, it's okay. At least I know where I stand right now. I just got an alert from Equifax and my Orchard Bank account just showed up raising my score 9 points. That was nice. However, does HSBC not report limits? They are not reporting my limit for some reason. Strange...

Okay, well I know this is going to sound frivilous...but today at the mall I tried my luck in Reed's Jewelry store and applied for store credit. They approved me for $700 CL. WOW! That is so cool. Their bank is through WFNNB (World Finanacial Network National Bank.) I have never heard of them. Maybe I will treat my single hot self to a small Valentine's gift to get some activity on the card- the best thing is 90 days free of interest. I can afford to pay the balance off in full if I do use it or give myself a little activity for 3 months free of interest. What's the best scenario here to raise the ole score a bit? I am happy. No more applying for a year now I promise!

Okay, last post for the day. I just got my Chevron card in the mail today! Now I get to put it with my orchard bank and reed's card in the sock drawer! I will only use these guys when necessary. I am finally on my way back, guys. Before I found this board I thought establishing credit again would be impossible. With the proper guidance and insight about which cards to apply for all of you have helped me get a second chance. Thanks!!!
