Arrow and First Premier Dilemma

am hoping that I may receive some direction. Arrow is reporting a debt of 1251 and First Premier 722. These are the same accounts. I live in NC. First Premier reports Date Opened: 5'00/Date Closed: 8'01/Date Updated: 4'03. Remark is also placed "closed by consumer request". Arrow on the other hand shows: Date Opened: 4'03/Reported Since: 04'01/Last Reported: 12'05. I am somewhat concerned because both are reporting the same debt for starters. Can they do this legally? I want to take care of this matter, so I sent a letter to Arrow in 8'05 offering to settle in the spirit of compromise although I disputed the validity of the dept. I never received a response nor did they make an entry on my CR stating I disputed the debt. I recently sent them another letter by certified mail once more. In this letter I once again made an offer to settle for 950.00 in exchange for them to delete their reporting to all 3 bureaus and to have First Premier update their reporting to Paid As Agreed. I also added that if they are unwilling to accept this then they hold the burden to validate the debt. Although, I am willing to compromise , I am not stating that the debt is mine. I have given them until 01/16/06 to respond by mail. What should be my next step if I don't receive a response? Should I dispute this with the CRA as duplicate accounts? Also, would the SOL apply? If so, what impact would that have on contacting the CRA and requesting a deletion? Please help... I am so ready for this to be over. Thanks

You don't have to, you're telling them you're going to PAY IT - it amounts to the same thing.

First Premier is the original creditor - Arrow is the collection agency, BOTH reporting is perfectly legal and the norm for collections.

Arrow can/will do NOTHING to 'ask' First Premier to do anything with their tradeline regardless of whether you pay or not. If Arrow has it, FP sold it and has washed their hands of it entirely.

The date opened/date closed/ updated are NOT the pertinent dates you need to worry about. The DOLA IS and BOTH should be reporting the SAME DOLA date, otherwise they're attempting to re-age the debt. The REALLY important date is the date of first delinquency as THAT date is what determines the start of the reporting period.

Thanks for responding. I am assuming that the last DOLA was sometime in 2001. First Premier reports account closed by consumer request 08'01 and estimated date of removal 07'08. Arrow Financial is listed as the Assignee for First Premier. They report the account as an open account, collection account, placed for collections on 04'03 and estimated to be removed on 03'08. It appears that they are not going to respond to my offer of pay for deletion in the amount of 950.00 on the 1251.00 debt that originated as only 722.00. What do you suggest my next course of action be? I have searched the postings to see if anyone else was successful at validating debts with either of the above. How well is their record keeping for instance? Do I have a chance here to get this removed totally seeing how I really do not believe the balance was 722 to begin with. Everywhere states to start by DV, however, I did request proof that the debt is mine with original documents with my signature, billing history, etc. if they were unwilling to compromise. Would this not be a considered a DV request because I included it in my letter to compromise just to get this cleared up sooner (or so I thought)? Please provide any insight of how I should handle this. Thanks

All of my communication with the collection agency has been in writing... And yet I have not received a response. So I wanted to know how I should approach the matter to get some results. Each time I have offer to settle with a pay for deletion or either they need to validate their claim for the debt.
