jons
This is my first time here and I was looking for some advice. My wife received a summons today to appear in court Feb 1. Discover has sold her account to Robert Zeldin (local Kansas City, MO collector) and the amount is $2299.28 plus interest from Oct 31, 2005. For this amount of money I really don't want to go to court, but I only have about 20 days before the court date. Does Discover usually settle before going to court through their CA's? What would be the best course of action. Thanks for any advice.

DocDon
Is it not the case that both Discover and CITI (through their hired counsel) will fight to the bitter end? What's the 'inside scoop'?
nimrod
Here in OKC, at least on the accounts that Discover still owns, the law firm that handles them is relentless. (NOT "L_B_N") In the cases I've looked into, they immediately go for bank accts, wages, and call for an "HOA" (hearing on assets), once they get their judgment.Don't know how they respond to pretrial settlement offers, though.
