PGE Bill

Recommended Posts

I have a friend I'm trying to help out with a letter she recieved...

She used to have PGE in her name for approximately 3-4 years. Then moved out of that home and into another place for about 6 months. She paid what she thought was final bill to close out PGE at the new residence when she moved out, but it wasnt over, the final balance hadnt been processed. She moved in with a friend, so she didnt transfer her service, so they had no new address to get ahold of her.

Now she got a collection notice from a collection agency called Northshore Agency for PGE in the amount of $96.79. I am telling her to handle it with the origional creditor (PGE) and not with the collection agency.

Maybe speak with a supervisor, explain the situation? Maybe write a goodwill letter? Any help?

My best advice is to continue reading the forum before you act on any advice.. absorb as much in as you possibly can. It isn't something that can be learned or fixed overnight. Get familiar with the general practices and then sit down and devise a plan of attack. We are all here to help! (((GOOD LUCK!)))

::NEW UPDATE::

We spoke with someone at the OC (pge) and they said that because the account has been closed for more than 30 days, they have no control over it and it belongs to the collection company?

Now what? Has anyone ever dealt with PGE before in this manner or had a similar experience with them and know a good way to handle this ??

To preserve your rights as a consumer, you need to send a DV to them within the first 30 days. This will maximize the benefit to you. As you read, you will see why. Send it certified mail, return receipt requested.

There is a good example of how and why to be found here:

PGE are horrible. I even went to the PUC and could not get them to erase the ding. I moved as well, to another state, and they claim that someone else gave them my forwarding address even though I was the only person on the bill. I rec'd my bill about a year later and it was for around $100.00 and I paid it immediately. It shows up paid after collection.

I have disputed it and dispute it every month. They verify every month.

I was able to get them to remove the ding after it was paid, but only because it was (by their own evidence) reporting wrong. It required an ITS, including a draft of a complaint, and arguing with their counsel.
