VonAngel (aka EarthAngel)
Does the statement show where the balance was left? The date when the account was closed? W/ your name, address, & account # on it? The statement shouldn't be a statement from last year. It would need to be the last statement showing the info above.Validation is nothing more than proving you owe the debt. If the statement provides evidence of their claim, then yes, it's validation. If the statement can prove to a judge [if you're sued] that this debt is yours, then yes...it's validation. Don't make validation so complicated. Read the FDCPA § 809:( If the consumer notifies the debt collector in writing within the thirty-day period described in subsection (a) that the debt, or any portion thereof, is disputed, or that the consumer requests the name and address of the original creditor, the debt collector shall cease collection of the debt, or any disputed portion thereof, until the debt collector obtains verification of the debt or any copy of a judgment, or the name and address of the original creditor, and a copy of such verification or judgment, or name and address of the original creditor, is mailed to the consumer by the debt collector.
