gravelgirl66
Since i have been rebuilding so awesomely, and have several credit cards, and auto loans, and my scores are in the mid 600's ... am i still consdiered to have bad credit since i had a BK last year? When does the stigmta of saying 'upfront' um well, i have bad credit. go away?can i sucessfully say, well i have good credit. I mean ie: an apt complex is running my credit. i said okay. Should i have said, i have bad credit?what about for the lights/ water. they offer to run your credit to keep from paying a deposit. do i say okay? or would i just be wasting an inquiry. and still have to pay a deposit.what do you think? LNY
Only a year past BK, unfortunately yes, you are considered as having bad credit. You can't say you have good credit with a recent BK.You probably didn't have a choice regarding the apt. complex running your credit. But perhaps they were looking more for residential judgments against you, and might overlook your BK. If they say no, offer to give them a higher deposit to make up for the bad credit. How much deposit are the utilities suggesting?
lindsay135
I guess I would have the same question but what I dont understand is all the soft pulls for credit and me getting CC apps in the mail left and right and then not getting approved. I dont DARE apply for anything anymore. Like today I got a Discover in the mail and I am petrified of applying being that I have a BK from Jan 06. But if they see it on the soft pull why even send the app out? Doesnt make sence to me ....
LNY
They'll do soft pulls on people in certain demographics without looking at credit specifics at all. And Discover will not even consider you with a BK. Just remember that any prime lender--think AmEx, Citi, Chase, Discover, MBNA, Bank of America--will generally not touch you with a BK, so don't waste the inquiry.
