Dim Sum
Are collection agencies allowed to report to the credit bureaus, if so are they allowed to report along with the OC re:same account or instead of the OC. On my credit report I have the CA reporting and on some items I have the OC and CA reporting. Thanks
GreatGadsby
YES. if the CA currently holds the right to collect on a given debt, they are allowed to report it on your CR. you can have TL's from the OC and a CA from the same debt at the same time. so long as only the current CA is reporting, it's fine. example: if you have an acct with BoA & it goes to collections..... both BoA and the CA can report. let's say you DV the CA & they give the acct back to BoA who passes it on to CA #2. CA #1 can't report anymore, they have to delete, but now CA #2 can report, and BoA retains the option of reporting throughout the whole thing.
