Dingo
Hello, This site and forum are unbelievably valuable! I have a question about a paid debt for a university loan. I negotiated a settlement with the collections company but the negative mark is still on my record (just has "Legally paid in full for less than the full balance ") for all 3 credit bureaus. I feel stupid, because what was the point of paying it?? Anyway, I read (after the fact) that I should have negotiated with the collections agent to have this removed. At this stage, what can I do to have them remove or at least change this item on my credit record? Do I speak to the original creditor or to the collections ?Thanks for your help in advance!Dingo
creditclimber
How long ago was it? Sometimes just disputing it will get it off because they're paid and don't care. If not, try to find something incorrect about it and dispute it that way. Usually time and perserverence will get it removed.
