charging me for proof of late payments

Original creditors can charge fees to dig up copies of old statements. I don't agree with the practice, but they're allowed.

Except if it is related to a billing dispute with a credit card. Under the Fair Credit Billing Act, a credit card company may not charge you fees of any kind in the course of investigating or correcting a billing related dispute...that includes past statements.

Your dispute must be made within 60 days of the error for full rights under the law, but can be as long as 180 days.

Tell them to do what they always do with a fee and charge it to your First Premier Account. Remind them of their substancial history of this practice.

$29 account set-up fee (one-time)

$95 program fee (one-time)

$48 annual fee

$ 6 Monthly participation fee (that's right, it comes to $72 a year)

$20 Additional card fee (billed annually)

$25 charged for first increase, IF approved

Total just for one person to set up: $178

Total with co-applicant: $198

All First Premier Cards are used to fees, adding one more for old times sake seems justified.

Thanks, Methuss. Good to know!
