partywithjohn
Someone was telling me now that I am a Lic. Real Estate Agent that I can get a new SSN for taxes, it will also be used to fix my credit?is this true?
lyle7289
WHOA....back the bus up.You mean that someone told you that because you are now a licensed Real Estate Agent you can apply for a "NEW" SSN? (differnent from the one issued to you at birth)Please explain.....
sevastras
You mean tax ID number, since essentially being a real estate agent is owning your own business. Even though you could get a tax ID number, any business credit you would try to get would be based off your own credit in the beginning.

Osiris
Someone was telling me now that I am a Lic. Real Estate Agent that I can get a new SSN for taxes, it will also be used to fix my credit?is this true?Man, if you try to use a federal tax ID number for personal credit, you're just asking for the Feds to come down on you!! That's illegal.

hinky
Guys, while I agree this would obviously be an illegal practice and is not advocated here, you can say what you think without the insults or name-calling...

He heard it from someone and was inquiring whether or not it was true. Surely not a reason to make such statements. It's actually a question I asked several years ago when I learned about starting your own business. IMO, it's an honest question that doesn't deserve insults for an answer. Let's be nice, please. Raysway
Whoa, kdcool...easy there, bud.John, the road to repairing your credit WILL NOT be an easy one...PERIOD! Any tactic that sounds to good to be true is going to get you in big trouble. There are people who make those decisions to do things as your friend suggested, but they are rarely prepared for the consequences.I can be an unbelievably impatient person myself, but there is NO quick fix, brother. Have you started any of those procedures that were recommended by others on your other posts? START NOW! Ray
jc72
Agree with Hinky, Earth and Ray..We are all here to help each other out. I don't believe the OP was trying to say that we should do this. He was curious, and there is nothing wrong with that.Sometimes people are missing the filter from brain to mouth....I, for one, thought when I first got married that I got a new SSN along with my name... LNY
John, really. We've been through this. Just spend some time reading on here and you will learn enough to at least make a start. You're looking for magic tricks, but you're not willing to take the time to learn them. And yes, everyone needs to settle down and chill on the name-calling. We can disagree or even admonish without insulting each other like that.
mikey
okay...i apologize....for my comments.but it is hard to believe that someone was just curious....if i was told that i could get a new SSN just because i could and hide behind that one for new credit, i would laugh in their face. but to than come here and ask other people.....seems odd. why would you want to know that. for general info or to actually do it if you could. i admit i would do it, but i would know that it would be illegal.so i am sorry for the name calling but sometimes people should think before they post just as i needed to... hinky
I still see signs posted around where I live that advertise getting a new ID and credit file. I can see why people would be confused as to its being illegal.

LNY
I believe ybrew was pointing out that we are not actually issued SSNs at birth... our parents must apply for them after we are born.
beeboah
I am very suprised and dissapointed at the name calling here. This used to be a place where you could speak freely and be told "yes or no", regardless of opinion. When people start rubbish like that, you have to wonder if they are intentionally trying to deduct from the OP's question e.g. trolling. I hope this board is not turning into something else!! LNY
Some people live "off the grid." They in effect have no traceable identity. Nothing is in their names, they have no SSN, they pay no taxes, work off the books, pay for everything in cash (or better still, make or grow what they need)... they simply choose not to participate in what they feel is a corrupt and invasive society. I have always been proud of this site because it was not like some of the others with the flaming and trash-talking. Like you, I hope this site doesn't begin tolerating those types of posts. Would be nice if some of the veterans from the 'old days' would weigh in now and again just to help keep things on the straight and narrow.
