retmar
I cannot find my references to the laws that cover exempt monies, and need them for someone. Does anyone remember where they are at this site? It seems to me this was posted some time back. I know, I'm old. What I'm looking for is IF Federal funds, such as SS, VA, or other retirement monies, is exempt from state agencies. An example is if someone owes state taxes, I want to see if they are allowed to take Federal monies. I know IRS can, but, can't remember the limitations. My thanks to anyone who can assist me. retmar
Yes, I'm aware SS and VA are exempt from most liens and/or granishments. But, I was trying to take the easy way in hopes someone had the exact sections of the laws handy. I've got so much on my plate for the next few days, I was definitely being lazy.My intent is I can't remember if a state is allowed to place either on Federal monies. An example is someone owes their state for unpaid taxes, and cannot pay the amount. Thus, can the state take these funds to settle debt? I know Federal can, as well as some child support matters, but, not sure on state taxes.
