Since I've recieved my card (Blue for Students), everything I've asked for, I've gotten. I started at 500 in 12/05, I asked for (and got) a 500 increase in 4/06, a Green rewards in 05/06, and an AUTOMATIC CLI of $1000 in 7/06. They just keep on giving....as soon as all of my baddies are off next year I'm going to cancel all my other cards (except one Mastercard for those times when Amex isn't accepted) and just focus on CLIs. I'm loyal for life!!

What is F/R? And I have a Household Bank card that I used for rebuilding and I want to close down all of my sub prime cards after my credit is cleared. Especially if I won't be using it. I will keep my USAA platinum open for diversity (aka when amex isn't accepted) but I don't want to have too many cards open that I simply won't use. That is why I want to focus on CLI.

AmEx does periodic reviews of your finances, called a financial review or FR. They ask for documentation of your income, debts etc. If for some reason you don't pass at any time, they'll close your card or lower your limit. So relying on one card--and CLIs--isn't the most prudent road to take, especially if you're still a student with baddies on your reports. Diversify.

I wasn't planning on closing my other accounts until after I graduated and my baddies are off my report ( which will happen at the same time). Plus I will still have USAA. How often do they do a F/R? Are the odds the same as getting audited by the IRS? Oh, and they gave me the CLI after my scores went down because of all the new inquiries added to my report after I applied for more credit. (645 to 628)

Thanks. If you had told me last year that I would have not just one Amex but 2, I would have laughed in your face. I had Crap 1 for a year with only a 400 CL. Now I have 4000 CL (and counting, I hope) just on 1 card. As the old adage goes: 'good things come to those who wait.'

They're doing FRs more often than ever now. And the odds are way higher than an audit. I'm not your mother, Skyfox. I can't tell you what to do. I can only tell you what I know. Whether or not you choose to believe it is up to you.

Did I mention that I love Amex? I just got another $1700CLI(for a total CL of 5700)!!!! They seem to be giving my one every month!!! I can't wait for all my baddies to drop off. I'm going to request a huge increase then.....this is so surreal...a year ago having a credit card with a $1000 dollar limit seemed impossible....I LOVE AMEX!!!

I have an Amex One and, while I've never gotten an FR, I did get a call requesting payment. In truth, I knew that my balance had been creeping up, so I'm not surprised I received a call. I'd had the card 7-1/2 months at the time, and my balances had been creeping up on other cards as well (in part because I was prepping for a major vacation), so I can see their cause for concern.

They will nail you if your spending habits change, so be aware of them, and try to be consistent.

I love AMEX too! After having their green card for nearly a year and reading posts on here I decided to apply for another card. Ended up applying for two and got the starwood and hilton honors card both 5000 each! Woohoo I love AMEX who needs Hooters!

A lot of people here do. Let's not lose sight of that when we're celebrating our own successes, OK? ;)
