Threatening letter after debt removal

Recommended Posts

I disputed a debt and it was removed a month ago or so. Today I received a threatening letter from the company telling me to pay or there will be legal action taken, blah blah blah. What is the best course of action here. Should I write a letter in return stating that the debt had been disputed and removed and they are not to continue pursuit of the matter, or seek legal action?

Thanks again for everything!

Just because you got the bureaus to remove the debt from your reports does not make the debt invalid or uncollectable. If the debt IS invalid, or past your state's SOL for legal action, use debt validation and make them cough up proof of the debt. If the debt is within SOL, then using a C&D could very well get you sued when you leave them no other recourse for contacting you.
