beautyinmd
I tried to rent to some tenants a few years ago and the house was unfinished, they called and said they had no place to stay and would sleep in the house even though the carpets would be finished following day, I allowed them to come and sleep in the portion of the house that was finished..Returned the following day and completed the carpets and the people didnt return but sued me for $15k even though they only gave me $1100 deposit and had no money for first months rent.. They went in and took pictures..this is the short version.. Anyway went to court they won 3900 because my lawyer didnt show up..Now question is this is on my credit report. It's been 3 yrs and if I pay them the 3900 they arent honest enough to report it to the credit beauru so I would be in the spot I am now.. I have no means of contacting them as I dont know where they live now. Is there anything I can do to get this off my credit report.
elyse449
Ok, I think I'm a bit confused--Did these people sign a lease agreement with you? If so, what kind? They stayed in the residence how long? What was their reason for suing you? You're attorney didn't show up? Were you relying on him/her to be there to represent you? Meaning, you didn't show up either thinking your atty would be there? When did all this happen?Elyse
hubbys_nightmare
You can always try disputing it with the CRA. Chance are it will come back verified tho. If you really need it off and have the extra cash hanging around you can file a request to pay the court. This will satisfy the judgement whether they ever pick up the money or not.
