melissa92078
I received a bill for a past due phone bill for $92, no biggie. I checked my credit report and found that same bill. I wasn't sure I owed it so I disputed it with and it was found to be mine. I figured I must have forgotten about and decided to pay up. I called the CA to pay the amount and was told that the amount was not $92 but over $600, that was Feb. 2006. I asked for proof, none arrived. Of course, this was before I found this site. I refused to give my work number and asked that they contact me by mail only. I've received 3 calls at work since then. How they got my number is unknown. My question is: Is there anything I can do since the bill THEY sent me is for $92 and now they're saying its's over $600? Will dv still work for me? I'm very new to this and am not sure what to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
divemedic
Next time they call at work, ask them to send you a bill in writing for the amount. Admit to nothing, say nothing else. Then tell them that they cannot contact you at work, as your employer won't allow you to take such calls at work. When the bill arrives, write them a nice letter, asking them to explain the different amounts. You can use this to your advantage.
