file CH7 BK, still getting calls

Have you had your 341 meeting yet ??

If you've only just filed, give the Chase people your lawyer's contact info and tell them to talk to him/her. You can also tell them you have filed for BK, and give them your case number. That should stop them. If they don't, they are in violation of your automatic stay - and they damn well know it.

I filed on 8/9. I informed them the last time they called a week ago that I filed and to contact my attorney with any questions. However they called again yesterday for one account, and their debt collector for another account (Valentine &Kovakis) called on Sunday.

I beleive they are violating the automatic stay, will discuss with my attorney today.

They are most definitely in violation of the automatic stay and their continued contact for collection is digging them a nice little hole -- you can have them slapped for contempt if they don't stop.

by slapping for contempt, what do I gain out of it? (other then stopping from calling my home)

What do YOU gain ??? You could recover damages if you can prove damages. They most certainly pay your attorney's fees when they lose, and the judge smacks 'em with sanctions for their illegal actions.

It's as much the principle of the thing, they MUST be stopped or they will keep doing the same thing to other people.
