ksimmons
I had an auto loan through HSBC that I paid off this spring. I did have some lates on it in 2004/2005. HSBC showed I was 30 days late 3x in 2004 and 3x in 2005. I disuputed the last late payment in 2005 because I was fairly sure that it wasn't late that month. The results came back and they're just trashing me, now it shows 6 30day lates and 2 60 day lates in 2004, plus 5 30 day and 1 60 day late in 2005. I know that's totally off. I suppose I gotta send them a nastygram, and then start trying to pull all my check statements for the last 2 years. Anyone else had a dispute go so wrong? elyse449
it certainly does sound as though they're getting a bit vindictive...I would imagine once we're late on payments, it's tough to prove otherwise unless we get meticulous about keeping track of future receipts, copies of cashed checks, etc. Maybe they looked up your records and those other lates showed up--who knows. If it were me, I'd consider writing a goodwill letter of some sort. It doesn't sound like you were trying to stir the pot per say, just request them to take another look at ONE late...sheesh...they act like you asked them to move heaven and earth.Elyse
