unckbobby
Hello everyone, I started my DV process and I've run into my first hurdle. I have 4 accounts with a local collection agency where I went to college. I used the simplistic sample letter that I found above in the sample letter section. I asked that they provide the following: What the money you say I owe is for; Explain and show me how you calculated what you say I owe; Provide me with copies of any papers that show I agreed to pay what you say I owe; Provide a verification or copy of any judgment if applicable; Identify the original creditor; Prove the Statute of Limitations has not expired on this account Show me that you are licensed to collect in my state Provide me with your license numbers and Registered AgentThey sent me an invoice from one of the accounts, an attorney bill. The bill is itemized, and appears to be valid. However they said for the other 3 accounts (medical, utility, and apartment bill), I would have to speak with the attorney that it was referred to for nonpayment. In addition they said they are an Illinois Corporation, and their license number is not for knowledge.I disputed all 4 listings with Transunion, the only bureau that they are showing up on. In my opinion, they're listing 4 accounts, but have put in writing that they will only provide information on one. Shouldn’t I send a copy of my validation letter, along with their response to Transunion in support of dispute I filed earlier?Any and all suggestions/feedback are welcome. divemedic
Wait out the dispute. When they verify with TU, send them a second telling them that they must delete the unvalidated 3 accounts immediately. When you get the green cards back, dispute again. if they do not delete, you can then sue for violations.
