Jess1120
My husband had a Dell Financial account that was charged off last year. We disputed it and sent Dell a letter requesting verification...they never responded to the letter, but changed the TL to "Lost/Stolen Card", with the same amount remaining ($2,272). This is obviously more inaccurate information. He disputed this again and they re-verified it... except now they have added a past due balance of $320. There was never a past due balance even reported before. They've been re-aging the account... reporting CO for several months, then Pays for a month and back to CO again, several times. We're sending them a follow-up letter today, since it's been over a month since they received the first letter, with the ITS if the account isn't deleted.Question... what difference does a lost/stolen TL make over a CO TL? Is it any better? His score hasn't gone up so I'm guessing no on that one. Is it more likely that they don't have the records anymore, and won't be able to hold up anything in court (if they don't settle first). We're planning to buy our first home within the next three to six months, and I know with a CO, the lender will require you to pay it off... is this the same with a stolen card status? Thanks for any help! Lisa0825
I have been wondering the same thing. When I got approved for an Orchard card, the first card they supposedly sent never arrived, so they closed it and sent me a new one. Now the old one is showing up as lost/stolen, bt the new one hasn't shown up yet, and I am wondering if having the lost/stolen is a bad thing for me. I did have a drop of a few points around that time, but my alter said it was because of an old CO that was updated with an increased balance, so I don't THINK the lost/stolen changed my score.Still, it pisses me off since *I* was not the one who lost it or let it get stolen! It was either Orchard's fault or the post office!
Ahntara
"...the lender will require...pay it off...is this the same with stolen card status..."Chances are, probably not. But only The specific lender can say for sure. Each has their own policies."...I am wondering if having the lost/stolen is a bad...drop of a few points..."Deductions hit in a few spots in the TL and count for the most points in relation to the "Date Last Reported". The lost/stolen notification (in and of itself) is not one of them. But things like CO and past due balance will trgger a deduction.
abennett
From my understanding if it is showing lost or stolen then that TL should show a 0 balance...............in addition it should show another account with the same company with the new card name, but it shouldn't show lost/stolen with a balance, then another account (which is the same account) with another balance....................I hope when you sent the DV letter you sent it certified mail just to keep a trail, I always use the scare tactic and with that I find every violation that they have made which normally exceeds what I owed them and threaten to sue, I have gotten a $4k account deleted by doing that. Jess1120
I did send it CMRRR and have the green card and CM slip. I also have several copies of each CR showing the changing TL's, re-aging and the sudden past due balance on a stolen/lost card. Lots of FCRA violations... just have to wait it out now and hopefully they'll settle before court
