shegler
I have had a Cap One card now for two years. I have never been late, I have never had the balance up to the $300.00 limit, I always pay more than the minimum payment! I called them today to ask for any kind of an increase and I was declined! I am not past due on any other loans, although I have two charge off's from 2001. I got this card in 2004 and there was no problem then getting this card. My real Fico scores are: EQ-666, TU-654, EX- 649. I even tried to get a Citbank Premier Pass credit card the other day and I was declined! I have several good tradelines on my report and hardly any inquiries! What is wrong with this picture? Any suggestions?
ncgal
Are the CO's paid?
shegler
No the CO's are not paid. The DLA was 4/2001. So they are due to come off 4/2008.
ncgal
In my own experience, nothing good came till my CO was paid. It wouldn't have fallen off until 2010 for me. Others may have a different experience, but it seems credit card companies aren't going to extend a whole lot of credit if they see you haven't taken care of previous debts. newbie7069
Have you tried for some of the store cards yet? I got a Target, Macy's & Bloomingdales with 2 open COs from Crap One and worse scores than you.
June
I have had a Cap One card now for two years. I have never been late, I have never had the balance up to the $300.00 limit, I always pay more than the minimum payment! I called them today to ask for any kind of an increase and I was declined! That's strange. What was their stated reason? It is fair to ask them. You are entitled to know their reason. Also, you may get a Free Credit Report based upon their Adverse Action against you. Exactly when was your last Increase, if any? Month and Year? When I did that I usually waited and asked for Yearly Increases. Say Mar '03-Mar '04 or Apr '05-Apr '06. Oh no, Never before. I always believed they would decline had I asked earlier. Read your Introductory Letter and Contract. There may be a promise or clause for "Periodic" Increases. Periodic could be every 6 Months or Yearly, I thought. I had asked Yearly so that there would be No Reason for denial.Best Regards,June
shegler
I have a $300.00 limit and it has always been that limit since 11/04 when I opened this account. They said that the decline I will receive within 7-10 days. I also like I said tried to apply for the Citibank Premier Pass everyone says they have been able to get with no problem---I was denied I was told because of old past due accounts. It has to be the two CO's because I have not been past due on anything since 2001. I will get a letter on that soon too. I don't want to apply anymore because I know those are two inquires and I don't want many inquiries at all! Any suggestions for a card you think I could get? The only cards I have are Cap One and Orchard. I have NEVER been late!
Methuss
Same here. I've had one of their cards since 1999 with only a $300 limit and only just now did they increase it to $500. Never late, never overlimit. I believe the extra increase was triggered by either paying the balance off in full and leaving it $0 for two straight months or by my score increasing over 670. I have NEVER been late!Another possibility, the CAs with Old Past Due Accounts may have willfully Updated your Accounts by changing the DOLA or DOFD which Re-Ages the Account and Lowers your Credit Score. I find that when I dispute with the CAs, in retaliation, they often change something that impacts my Credit Score. Check your CRs and look for some "Recent Change(s)".I know that you had NEVER been late with them, but the experts say making your payment just "one day earlier" may increase your Credit Score. Nowadays, Creditors look at our FICO Scores as a reason to charge High Fees, Credit Line Increase Fees (Finance Charge), Higher Interest Rates, OR decline applications. I believe that you were declined because of some Change in your CR that had affected your Credit Score. Most Creditors make their Decisions based on their Predefined Criteria and you must fall within the Parameters of their Profile regardless of how you are paying them. And you are correct, No more Inquiries for now! Inquiries affect our Credit Scores and Lenders like to see no more than 2 Inquiries within a 6 Month Period. Remember that Creditors may make Periodic Inquiries (without our knowledge) as long as we have Open Accounts with them.Best Regards,June
