kathieland
I am new to all of this but I am trying to get all of my information straightened out and get my credit fixed and I need some help. What information do I need to send to Equifax to get my birthday corrected? What information do I need to send to TransUnion to get my address corrected? The address they have as being reported 10/2006 I have not lived at or near since 2004.
pilgrimfaraway
Actually, I always include three things in every written dispute:1. Copy of drivers license and/or passport2. Copy of Social Security Card3. Proof of current address in the form of 2 utility billsThis would be sufficient in your case for both questions, becuase proof of both pieces of information would thus be provided. Also, a copy of your birth certificate will do for the DOB.The letter is simple:Dear sirs,My credit report contains the incorrect date of birth. The correct date should be mm/dd/yyyy. Please see enclosed info for proof of identity, current address and my date of birth.Sincerely, kathielandDir sirs,My credit report contains the wrong current address for me. the correct address should be blahblahblah. Please see enclosed info for proof of identity and current address.Sincerely, kathieland
momof5
Part of the concern should be for more than just the errors you see....if the BD listed is not yours, how did it get there? Usually, when you get your first credit item, your BD is reported by the creditor. A BD that is not yours is usually indicative of a bill being reported that doesn't belong to you either. (ie: my brother has my father's BD on his bureau because they have the same name and lived at the same addy for a long period of time after my brother became a credit receiving adult.) However, A birth certificate should rectify that.Your address is based on the creditors. Everytime they report, they report using the last address they have on their files. If you have an old address that keeps re-appearing, it is because you haven't updated that information with that creditor. Some of the CRAs will not let you delete that address as long as the creditor who is reporting it is still on your bureau. If you show your current address, the CRA will update it, and as soon as that old creditor reports the next billing cycle, it will revert back. This is not the CRA that is doing this, it is the creditor.
