badlybent
thanks in advance for all the help in the past, just reading all the posts i went from the low 500's to mid 600's. but, this morning i checked my CR and Transunion is reporting a federal tax lien of 318807.00. This all started from me not filing tax returns for 5 years well to make a long story short i went to the local IRS office and talked to the officer and my cpa got all the missed years together and the IRS did a audit and gave me a form Letter 987 that states that i owe nothing i was released on 10/27/2006 and the tax lein was filed on 03/07/2006, I am self employed and i live in Maine, how do i get this off my CR because i never owed anything originally. sorry about the long post
pilgrimfaraway
1. When were you notified of the intent to file a lien?2. Did you appeal the lien at that time?3. You should contact the technical services group http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p4235.pdf4. You should contact the taxpayer's advocate http://www.irs.gov/advocate/article/0,,id=147000,00.html
msldystrkr
I would send a dispute to the CRA with a copy of that form and a letter explaining that after review the IRS found that there was never any money owed. Ask them to remove the lein from your file. This will be step one!
