Matopi
Okay-- so I got this very strange offer for a credit card, in which I can get a card with an old, no longer collectible (but still reportable on my CR, for now) debt transferred on it. The offer is from Jefferson Finance, who says that they have been assigned the account from Midland. Midland is on my CR, and I DV'd them long ago, to which they were unable to respond. Jefferson is not on my CR at all.My question: do I need to DV these folks as well? They're not on my credit report. It's not even really clear to me that they have the debt, really. How should I proceed here? Thanks, in advance, to everyone.
nascar
The credit card scheme is an old one. Don't fall for it.
wvufan788893
Sounds like Jefferson Capital Systems. If their letter states they are collecting on Midland's behalf and you requested validation from Midland within 30 days from your reciept of their initial communication, Jefferson's attempt to collection on their behalf would be continued collection activity under the FDCPA.Go ahead and DV Jefferson.
