pclonghi
Does anyone know if there is a SOL on judgements? I have 4 on my CR from 3 1/2 years ago. Also has anyone had luck settling for lump sum instead of payments on late judgements??
Recovering Attorney
Judgements have long SOLs - 10-20 years. Remember that judgments accrue interest at a statutory rate, so figure anyone entertaining your offer will tack on the interest then talk to you. Be realistic in what you offer. pclonghi
Im thinking offer the full amt and maybe they wont look for the interest. My only hesitation is that I dont have all the money now. Its 4 seperate ones from 300 to 1800. 3000 total. If I pay the small ones first do you think they will try for a garnishment? or try to pull my savings?
charlesa
Why don't you wait till you get enough money and negotiate for settlement once and for all?
pclonghi
Thats the plan...but in the meantime if the decide they can garnish. After doing some more research Ive also found that almost 80% of judgements never get paid. Why do creditors sue if they have a terrible shot at getting paid??
