My husband and I have been trying to clean up our credut for the past 4 months and actually have a court date with Verizon tomorrow. Here's the problem... even though we both used the phone (and I made all of the actual payments), the phone was only in his name. So, the case was only filed under his name as well.Well... he is terribly sick today (and yesterady too) and it doesn't appear that it's going to be much better by tomorrow. I've looked all over these boards trying to find something on "not being able to show up for court", but haven't had any luck. I also searched by court's website to no avail.What i want to know, is if I can go to court in his place. After all, I know more about the account (and the violations) than he does.. and I'm the one who has been talking to their executive relations, trying to reach a settlement. He works all over California and doesn't have a whole lot of time to invest into this stuff so i've been doing most of the paperwork etc.Is it possible to go in his place? vialna Posted November 30, 2006 Report Share Posted November 30, 2006 this recently happened to me..u dont state what state your in...that helps, also what i did was call the court house and ask to speak with the judges assistant...i explained the situation and asked if i could get a postponement to appear at a latter date...they called the opposing party and she called me back and said it is reset for XX date. dont know if this will work for you...however i would call the very first thing in the am and see what could be done...hope this helps...v Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

There will come a time when he actually has to be there representing himself, and by your comments about him working all over Cali, I'm guessing he doesn't know much about anything regarding his case.You make him sound like he's too busy or just doesn't care. I tried the power of attorney but the judge didn't go for it since he's not hospitalized or some other extreme.He did grant a continuance for one week, moving the date to the 8th instead.
