credit_junkie87
Does BoA do a hard when you request a CLI online?I tried it last night and receive a response that the decision would be made in 1-2 business days. When I logged in just now, I noticed they had granted the request. This is what the CLI form stated:"To request an increased line of credit, complete the form and click the "Request Credit Line Increase" button. By clicking the "Request Credit Line Increase" button, you authorize Bank of America to review your credit and employment histories and any other information in order to process this application, service your account and manage our relationship with you."Before the MBNA integration, they explicitly stated that they would NOT do a hard unless they had to, in which case they would inform you before doing it. direred
They didn't when I used the form last, which was right before the changeover.
credit_junkie87
That's the problem... earlier they explicitly stated they would NOT do a hard unless they informed you first. They don't do that anymore.

direred
I thought current creditors pulls were always supposed to be soft????CLI requests are considered a "credit or insurance transaction that is initiated by a consumer" and thus fall under the definition of hard inquiries in FCRA 604©(3) [§ 1681b].They don't have to code it as a hard, but they have permission to do so by the FCRA. Ideally, what you'd like is a CLI where no report is pulled, because if a report is pulled, it'll likely be a hard.
credit_junkie87
I have another CC from my bank which is serviced by MBNA (now FIA Card Services)...When I asked for a CLI, they could not approve my CLI with a soft but said they might be able to with a hard. This was on the phone, before my BoA CLI request.I said I wasn't interested, but when my BoA CLI was approved these guys (FIA) also gave me the CLI I had asked for!I hope BOTH BoA and FIA didn't do hards... I already had 4 inquiries on my report, 3 of them less than 6 months old.
