CAFighter
An old CC chargeoff was sold to a collection agency, who in turn is reporting it on all 3 credit reports. On my TU and EX it is reporting as a collection account with no past due balance. However on my EQ it is reporting as a installment loan, 180 days past due. I have DV'd EQ multiple times advising them this is not a loan but a collection account, but EQ just replys saying it is just they way they recv the info, and to dispute it with the OC. I disputed with the OC 60 days ago, and got no reply. Is this a violation of some sort. Is the CA required to report as a collection account, not an open tradeline. I did a little search on here, but found lots of conflicting information. Any input is appreciated!!!
mparksmagic
I have a very similar situation, has suit been filed yet? I also notice you are in tn, whereabouts? I relation to the question, I do not think the CA has to respond to your validation request, they just have to stop collection activity. Keep in mind, if the CA verifys with the CRA then that is considered collection activity. I also think it needs to be reported correctly as a collection account, however I am not totally sure, I have also got lots of conflicting info.Good Luck!
