maxzoran
Hey all, great forum! My wife and I are trying to repair our credit. I just got approved for a $1500 limit at home depot. I know it is part of Citi. Does this card report to all 3 bureaus? Are there any other good department store cards to get that report to all 3?Thanks! Got FICO?
Wanna share your scores?I would say they do report to all 3 but since I don't have a home depot care, I can't say for sure.
Ahntara
"...any other good department store cards..."Congrats on your HD card and yes, Citi reports to all 3 CRA's.For maximum positive impact to your score, revolving accounts need to be used and paid, on time, monthly. It can be difficult to do that with department store cards. Consumers typically end up making unneccessary purchases, which is not financially wise.Instead of looking for more and more accounts; I'd suggest you get 2 all-purposes cards, like Visa, MC or Discover. You can use those at a variety of merchants to purchase goods like food and gas that you have to buy anyway. You want to have between 2 - 4 revolving accounts total (for score-purposes).Research "utilization". Maintaining proper balances will yield the highest score. maxzoran
Good advice! Actually my wife and I are doing some updating on our house, so the HD card will work well for us. We have the cash to pay for what we're doing, but this is a good opportunity to get some good credit flowing as well. What about gas cards? Worth it? FYI...my fico's are in the 620's
Got FICO?
The gas card may be worth it but if you don't have an all purpose card like VISA, MC etc. then that should be your next move. FICO looks at a mix of credit. With a little research and the 620 FICO score you should be able to get a decent cc.
