Specialgift
I have a car loan that I'm still paying on. The bank is obvious confussed. I'm current on my payments, but the loan officer looked up personal information on my family. They have need contacting a relative 3 to 4 times every other day. Asking personal questions about me and has asked if they know who my sisters is. I contacted my sister and know they are calling her several times a day. I contacted the guy and asked him why is he calling my family regarding a loan that is current? He started to act confused like he did not know what I was talking about. I informed him of the cleared checks from my checking account and that I was going to contact the Federal Trade Commissions office, and sue him. He then just hung up! What are my rights. Is there a letter that I can send him to stop contacting my family and friends regarding my current loan. I would really love to send this guy a certified letter, regarding my rights as a consumer. Thanks!
breathing_easier
Are you sure you're current on the loan? Making the full payment on time every month? No arrearages? Never late? If yes to all, then they may have your account confused with another. It is best to not be confrontational at the outset or it may take a lot longer to get the answers you need from your loan officer. If you truly are current on the loan and they refuse to stop their collection calls after your initial phone call (which you should now follow up in writing with a polite and professional, but strongly-worded letter restating what you believe to be an error in their records and asking them to correct it immediately). elyse449
I smell a rat. Big time. Something smells rotten here. Usually the only time they attempt calling relatives is when/if they can't reach you and even then it is usually in regards to an unpaid bill or something overdue. Also, most phone companies consider more than 3 calls per week from the same number harrassment. So, you may want to call your local phone company and ask them what (if any) their policies are on harrassing phone calls. No offense, but this sounds creepy--almost like a stalking situation.I agree with breathing though....follow this up with a nice and polite, yet professional letter requesting communications to your relatives to cease. Explain that, "it may be possible you have confused me with another customer...but please try to rectify the situation for the mutual satisfaction of all parties." willingtocope
He started to act confused like he did not know what I was talking about. Paranoid bells going off...you might want to call someone higher up in the bank and ask them to investigate. Assuming your loan is current as you say, this guy might be using his access to bank records to do some personal stalking. I'm not trying to scare you...but...you need to have someone look into this...you might even want to start with your local police.
