Would moving change the SOL date?

hello, I have a quick question... if before a CA sues me I move to a diferent state would I be bound by that state SOL dates, cause here in MA it's 6 years and in RI it's 3 I believe, the account just did pass the 6 years here in MA this december but if I could use something to give me a little more leverage it would be all the better. and if I move and they sue me in MA that wouldn't be legal right? Since they would have to sue me in the county I live at?

thanks

Maybe yes, maybe no. If the CA can prove you were moving around to avoid service, the SOL in your home state could be tolled, or suspended. If you just happen to move to another state with a different SOL, the SOL in that state would likely apply if you are sued in that state. If you move to another state and the CA sues you in your old state, that becomes more a jurisdictional issue than one of limitations. Still you would need to protect your self against a default judgment if they tried to pull something like that.

Each state has different rules, so you would need to do some research.
