gbay65
Now that we are able to pull free credit reports. Which one do ya'll think should be pulled first?I plan to pull a report every 4months, just wondering which is most relied upon.My buddy wrecked My truck, need a new one. But I am trying to increase My scores. So, I really do not want to get beat up by car dealers multi-inquiring My credit. My tu is at 653, but I do not know the others. I know they will pull all of them, well don't know, assume, I'd like to find out ahead of time if I would even qualify, for a loan. Basically, not wanting to spin My wheels, or lay waste to My scores.Any nuggets of wisdom would be appreciated..thanx.
Ahntara
Do your window shopping prior to applying for a loan. You can also obtain financing from your own bank/CU to limit inquiries. If you absolutely must do the car lot thing, do it within a two week period. All similarly coded inquiries within any 14 days count as ONE to the scoring software. sr28b
I would recommend getting all three reports at once. It is advantageous in making disputes.

gbay65
Thanx for the advice. Reason pulling one report every 4mos is no charge and covers the year.To IHAte, made you look:D Anyway your response made Me laugh out loud, which is great while one deals with credit skeletons. Thanx
VonAngel (aka EarthAngel)
Reason pulling one report every 4mos is no charge and covers the year.Yes, but not all 3 reports will contain the same EXACT information. Some creditors don't report to all 3 CRAs or @ the same time; so your balances (for example) may often differ. That's why you're advised to pull all 3 at the same time. LNY
If you waited until, say, September every year to pull your Experian report, for instance, there could have been an erroneous negative item sitting on there for 9 months... pulling down that score and screwing up your chances for a decent rate.Pulling each report once a year doesn't "cover the year." VonAngel (aka EarthAngel)
Still wondering which cra most dealers and banks might use. LNY is right; there is no such thing. As a matter of fact, many car dealers and banks pull from all 3.
sr28b
I've read articles that suggest pulling one bureau every four months is a good idea, and I suppose that would be ok if someone has perfect credit and just wants to check. You could check one bureau and have some grey poupon. On the other hand, if you really want to get down and dirty and have as much leverage as possible with your disputes, then get them all at once.
