Applied for target Visa

Recommended Posts

They said if I get approved for the Target red card then I will get the target visa

 That doesn't even sound right. Now...it does say that if you aren't approved for the Visa, then they will consider you for the store card. The 713 score itself sounds promising, but CC decisions aren't soley score-based. My intuition tells me that you will be approved, but Target can be a bit 'iffy'. Try calling them this afternoon to see if they've finished processing your application.

No deros/cos, and a 6 figure salary to boot I feel like a pos. ty target!!!! I dont work but my wife does but on the on screen app it just asked for income, didn't asked if I work. I am curious as to why I got denied shall see soon.

Out of curiosity, besides upgrading you to a $1000 Visa, what exactly have they done to you? If this poster is "lucky" to have been denied, that must mean he/she has narrowly escaped certain mistreatment.

I know they took a while to give you a CLI, but Target as a rule doesn't freely hand out CLIs. It's usually $200/$300--->$500--->$1000. How quickly they do that depends not on some sort of vendetta, but on what your credit report looks like when they review it. Is it at all possible that maybe your credit picture just didn't qualify you for an increase when you wanted one? And that when your credit improved, you got that Visa upgrade?

Like everyone else here, I'm always amused at your distaste for Target. But constantly steering new posters away from Target and telling them that if they apply they'll be sorry for the rest of their lives is going a little too far. Especially when you've been upgraded to the same card/limit that the rest of us have. ;)

You may personally prefer Wal-Mart to Target, but that doesn't mean it's appropriate to advise everyone to eschew Target for Wal-Mart. Their circumstances may not be a good fit for a Wal-Mart approval, and they're being steered to it for all the wrong reasons and maybe wasting an inquiry they can't afford to waste in the process. WE ALL have to keep that in mind when we give credit advice here. Not everyone's circumstances fit our personal likes and dislikes, so we have to separate that from our credit advice, or else we risk hurting our fellow posters' chances of repairing or rebuilding their credit. And that goes for everyone here, OK?

Lecture over. Let the Target-bashing recommence, but within reasonable limits when it comes to advising others.

Will someone explain to me the obsession of people with good FICO scores chasing 19% APR cards with no real rewards?

Not everyone with a high score has a lot of tradelines. Some people have only just started, and have only one or two, or maybe nothing but secured or AU accounts. They want to build their own credit history, and store cards help to do that. Any lender who does a manual review is not fooled by a high score with a thin report, so these people need to start collecting TLs.

Hate to tell you this hawk, but my brother just got one of those "instant approvals" on his receipt, less than a day after I told him to walk in and try it. His score is 522 so maybe they will give you a break.

Btw, just noticed your sig Tourny: target <grrr> visa

Very funny.

I was wondering how that works. I was in target my favorite of all favorite stores the other day and I noticed the lady in front of me was told that she was instantly approved for a CC. I was like " how do they do that if they do not check your credit when your checking out ? Well I got my card online but I was curious....:)

Funny you said that We spend alot at target each month especially for cleaning supllies clothes and whatever else we need. I have been getting those preapproved offer on the top portion of the reciept so that is why I applied to begin with lol, and I dont get approved should be getting their letter as to why Im not approved w a EQ Creditscore of 713.

If they are telling you that you are approved and its just to get you to apply and hit your inquires that is really wrong. There should be a law against that...wait a minute there is...its called FALSE ADVERTISING... Hey I got approved for $300 and I had a 668 FICO score but I swear I had to almost give them an organ as they called me on the phone asking a 1,000 questions and for $300...But I know now that is a basic CL that you start off with regardless of your credit score...
