VonAngel (aka EarthAngel)
---What happens to the OC (Sears) TL on my credit report if I pay this with LVNV and they agree to delete? Is there anyway to get Sears off my CR or an improved tagline since they sold this to LVNV?Since Sears sold the debt, paying LVNV will not remove the TL. Even if it wasn't sold, paying a CA will not remove the OC's TL unless you negotiate directly w/ the OC.---If I do decide to pay LVNV, what are my steps? Do I still do DV even if I know Im going to pay?If your initial communication w/ them was w/in the past 30 days or if you haven't heard from them @ all & only knew of the debt by viewing your CR, then you NEED to DV. If you don't, how would you know that you're paying the right pple? If you don't DV, how will you know that you paying the true amount? If you don't DV, how would you know that LVNV can legally collect from you? Are my questions making it clear to why you need to DV??---If I ask for a PFD and they refuse to delete and I decide not to pay, is that "proving to them this my debt" and will it make them come after me harder? What should I do after that? Try for a paid as agreed status on my CRA??LVNV is a JDB (a CA that purchases derogatory debts); a "paid as agreed" status doesn't exist. If they don't accept your PFD offer, then you'll need to come back to the forums and read up on other methods. There are many threads about LVNV and ways members have gotten them off of their reports. You should also review and memorize the DV flow chart.---Like I said Sears & LVNV are both on my credit report but only Sears is on my husbands report (he's an authorized user of acct.). Any way to clean up this listing on his CR?Yes. Just have him contact Sears and ask them to remove the TL from his report as he was only an AU and not responsible for the account. If it's not done, then go beyond the CSR level. Write to the executive level if he has to.

pizzaerick
That's what is frustrating to me. the OC passes off the alleged debt, then you get 2 or even 3 items on your CR for the same debt. If you pay it off, it satisfies one, but the other 2 remain there. I'm just getting started and already I'm frustrated. Most of all at debts that shouldn't even be mine in the first place. Even the ones that should be, it should only be reflected once.

Other than "normal people" having no lobby or political action committee in Washington, I have NO IDEA why this is legal !! It's like getting your hand slapped 3 times for reaching into the cookie jar once!! ...or even never if the debt isn't yours! The CA's and OC's really look out for themselves on Capitol Hill - guess those stogies and dinners go a long way to screwing the consumer!Sheesh! I wish I could offer help, but just wanted to vent and say I know what you mean !!FS
